IRS EA Exam

Forget everything you've previously heard about the IRS EA Exam. The game plan has changed and so has the exam. The good news first: you don't have to take all three sections of the IRS EA Exam (reduced from four) at the same time and, in some cases, it's possible to transfer scores from previously completed sections. But, aside from pencils being provided, that's where the good news ends.

Candidates now face 100 questions in each section of the IRS EA Exam that are no longer true or false; multiple-choice is now on the menu. The sections have also been revamped. Section 1 still focuses on individual tax issues and Section 3 has been expanded to include representation and sanction regulations in addition to matters of ethics, appeal procedures, etc. But Section 2 is the most difficult part, combining business and corporate tax codes with estate, trusts, gift tax and fiduciary questions.
