IRS Mandated Registered Return Preparer Certification

By now many of you have heard or read that the IRS is moving towards oversight of the tax preparation industry, and with this all tax preparers who receive a fee for completing and signing off on a tax return will be required to receive this certification. Only Enrolled Agents, Certified Public Accountants, and Lawyers are exempt from this rule, and there are no plans to “grandfather” anyone regardless of experience.

ExamMatrix has already taken steps to develop a Registered Return Preparer review course and our course author is closely monitoring the proposed body of knowledge for this exam.

It is important to understand that this credential will NOT be a substitute for any of the credentials stated above and is not intended to allow you to perform client representation in front of the IRS.
