About Our CPA Authors ExamMatrix CPA Review Textbook / Question Authors Pamela Baker, PhD, MS, CPA, is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Texas Woman's University. She is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA, IMA and other professional accounting organizations and serves on boards and committees with the Texas IMA and Texas Society of CPAs in efforts to tie the educational community to the accounting profession. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Instructor Award at the University of North Texas. Dr. Baker is the author of four books and numerous articles appearing in various academic and professional journals. Paul N. Brown, CPA, is the Director of Technical Services for the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA). One of his main duties is to serve as the technical reviewer in Florida for the AICPA Peer Review Program, which administers approximately 450 reviews annually in Florida. Paul has previously been an instructor for the AICPA Advanced Reviewers Training Course and has written and instructed his own course in Florida on peer review called Peer Review Forum for Reviewers, for which he has received several outstanding discussion leader and author awards. He has also served on the AICPA's Technical Reviewers Advisory Task Force to the Peer Review Board and serves as staff liaison to various committees of the Florida Institute of CPAs. Prior to joining the FICPA, Paul was an audit manager with a regional firm in Florida. He holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from Florida State University. Annhenrie Campbell, PhD, CPA, CMA, CGFM, is a professor of Accounting at California State University, Stanislaus. A former governmental accountant, her teaching and research interests have included governmental and not-for-profit accounting throughout her career. She completed her MBA at Humboldt State University in California and her PhD at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After earning a CPA and CMA and starting her university career, Dr. Campbell became a Certified Government Financial Manager at the start of the CGFM program. In addition to numerous presentations, Dr. Campbell and her colleagues continue to publish research on accounting education issues. Tim Firch, JD, LLM, is an adjunct professor of accounting and business law. A graduate of the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law, he is a member of the California State Bar, taxation section (inactive in good standing). His research and teaching interests center on writing skills development for upper-division accounting students. His writing skills courses include a major research component. He also teaches business law along with financial and managerial accounting. David P. Flanders, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFM, is an independent technical editor for CPA examination reviews and tax and accounting CPE courses. A native of Colorado, he received his MBA and undergraduate degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is a CPA in Colorado. For over 20 years he was a corporate accountant and controller for a variety of corporations, including subsidiaries of NYSE-listed companies. More recently he spent 14 years as a senior editor of accounting reviews and CPE courses for some of the largest publishing companies in the United States. Jill Hazelbauer-Von der Ohe, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFM, CVA, has her MBA from Rockford College and is currently a professor at Keller University, where she teaches accounting. In addition to a CPA, she holds CMA and CFM certifications, having received the Gold Award for the CFM exam during the 1997-98 winter exam cycle. She also holds a CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) through NACVA, a professional organization that focuses on the valuation of closely held business for tax, estate, and other purposes. She has worked on accounting projects in Uganda and Poland. Tabitha McCormick, CPA, CFE, is the owner of Cornerstone Accounting in Millville, Pennsylvania. Cornerstone Accounting concentrates on training small business owners and financial employees to keep accurate accounting records, create efficient and effective policies and procedures, and institute strong internal controls. Cornerstone also assists businesses with implementing accounting software packages. She is a Certified Advanced QuickBooks® and QuickBooks Point of Sale® ProAdvisor and enjoys teaching QuickBooks classes for Bloomsburg University's Magee Center and other training institutions. Tabitha is also the author of two CPE courses on Identity Theft for MicroMash. In this capacity, he oversees the administration of the AICPA Peer Review Program for approximately 1,300 CPA firms in Illinois. Paul has served as a discussion leader at the AICPA's Annual Peer Review Conference and Advanced Reviewer Training Course as well as several state CPA society conferences and chapter events. He is also responsible for monitoring the continuing professional education and licensing rules in the state and responding to member inquiries regarding those matters. A native of eastern New Mexico, Dr. Pulliam received a BS in Mathematics in 1976 and an MBA in 1978 from Eastern New Mexico University and joined the accounting firm of Peat Marwick and Mitchell and Co. (now KPMG) in Albuquerque. After five years in public accounting, she completed her PhD at the University of North Texas and joined the faculty of the University of Tulsa in 1987. As a Regents Professor and McCray Professor of Business at WTAMU, her responsibilities include teaching tax and financial accounting, and advising the students in the Master of Professional Accounting program. Her publications include many articles appearing in Tax Advisor; the Journal of Accountancy; Practical Tax Strategies; Oil, Gas and Energy Quarterly; and the Journal of Forensic Accounting as an author or coauthor. Reg Rezac, PhD, MS, BS, is a Professor of Accounting at Texas Woman's University. He received his bachelor's from Jamestown College, his master's degree from the University of North Dakota, and his doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He has written tax material for numerous continuing professional education courses, as well as CPA review courses and chapters of taxation texts. Rezac both developed and was the first director of the Master of Taxation program at the American University. He teaches an online tax research course at TWU for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education credit, and has written continuing education material and conducted CPA courses for the AICPA. Robert R. Ried III, CPA, is the Director of Business Consulting Services for the national consulting firm Statera where he leads the Financial Performance and Business Intelligence practices. Mr. Ried assists with teaching and mentoring University of Colorado undergraduates and MBAs seeking careers in audit and consulting. Mr. Ried's work is referenced in two books, and he is a contributor to Consulting Magazine. Prior to Statera, Mr. Ried held positions with Hitachi Consulting and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He holds a BS in Finance and Accounting, as well as a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado. Craig D. Shoulders, PhD, is a professor and chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information Technology at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He joined the faculty there after serving over 20 years on the accounting faculty at Virginia Tech. Dr. Shoulders has received the Cornelius E. Tierney/Ernst & Young Research Award from the Association of Government Accountants and has been recognized twice by the AICPA as an Outstanding Discussion Leader. He is senior coauthor of a Prentice Hall textbook on state and local government accounting and of five continuing education courses on governmental accounting and financial reporting. He conducts extensive continuing education courses on governmental accounting and financial reporting on a regular basis.
